For the past three decades, the Compton Cowboys have roamed the streets of Los Angeles on horseback. One of the few small ranches left in the once rural area, they provide young boys in the hood an escape from gang violence. Founder Mayisha Akbar created the Compton Jr. Posse as a safe alternative to the streets.
