Bootleg: Murder, Moonshine, and the Lawless Years of Prohibition

Karen Blumenthal
Description
Prohibition is defined as the action of forbidding something, especially by law. In the 1920's the United States Congress passed an amendment to the constitution disallowing the sale or production of alcohol in our country. This gave rise to the "Bootlegger," a new term for someone who could make, distribute and transport illegal alcohol to people and businesses everywhere. "Bootleg: Murder, Moonshine, and the Lawless Years of Prohibition," tells a tale of what happened during that time. From the people who were for prohibition and the people who plain didn't care. 2012 Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults Want to learn more about the prohibition? Check out History.com.
